World's top parenting expert comes to Brighton
If you're a parent who wants to achieve a better balance between your family and work commitments, you can find out how direct from one of the world's top experts at an event at Brighton's Amex Stadium on Monday 2 July from 1.45pm to 2.45pm.
Professor Matt Sanders of the University of Queensland, Australia, is founder of the ‘Triple P' Positive Parenting Programme that is now used in more than 20 countries. Triple P has more than 62,000 trained practitioners worldwide and has helped millions of children and families.
Professor Sanders has also developed a programme focused on the workplace. This can give you the information and skills you need to increase work productivity and reduce family conflict. Parents who have done the programme report:
- lower levels of anxiety, stress and in some cases depression
- less dysfunctional parenting
- higher levels of commitment, satisfaction and efficiency at work.
The talk by Professor Sanders has been organised by Brighton & Hove City Council's parenting team. He will also address a conference aimed at professionals working with families on the same day at the Amex.
The chair of the council's children and young people committee, Councillor Sue Shanks, said: "We want people of all backgrounds to know that there are specific strategies you can learn that can help you become a happier parent with happier children.
"Professor Sanders is one of the world's foremost experts in this vital subject.
"You don't get an instruction manual when you become a parent, and some parents struggle because they weren't well parented themselves. But advice and support is available that can help you reduce conflict and maximise the joys of parenthood."
