Special Educational Needs: A Look to the Future
Amaze Invites Parents and Carers to its 2012 Information Fair
Friday 23 November 2012
9.30am - 1.30pm
Hove Town Hall
On Friday 23rd November from 09:30 - 13:30, Amaze, Brighton's only charity offering information, advice and support to parents and carers of children and young people with special needs in Brighton and Hove, will be hosting its annual Information Fair.
Parents and carers will have a unique opportunity to have face-to-face conversations with local education professionals, hear the latest information and news and attend specialist workshops. With 45 stalls to visit with information about education, after school activities, post 16 options and more, attendees will be also able to take advantage of refreshments, goodie bags and have some pampering from Brighton Alexander Technique College and City Revival.
No booking to attend the Fair is required and if that's not enough, Amaze will also refund delegates' travel costs on the day.
Rachel Travers, Chief Executive, Amaze said: "We are really looking forward to this year's Information Fair. With the legislative changes that are coming into place over the next year, Brighton's involvement in the regional pathfinder to trial these changes, and the city's new 5-year SEN strategy, we are really focused on ensuring that we are helping people understand what these changes mean and what help and services are on offer."
Booking is required in advance to attend the two specialist workshops:
- ‘Top Tips to Try at Home to Support your Child's Literacy' with literacy expert Alison Muir and
- ‘Top Tips on Helping the Child who Worries' with educational psychology guru Paul Myszor
Advance booking is also needed for the Parent Carers' Council discussion on special educational needs at 12.15pm.
To book a place, call the Amaze helpline on 01273 772289 or email helpline@amazebrighton.org.uk. The Amaze AGM is also taking place from 1.30pm till 2.30pm. Booking for the AGM is also required.
