There will be, literally, thousands of titles to choose from at the Big Book Sale with prices starting from 50p. Local authors Julie Burchill and Peter James have also shown their support to FSW by kindly donating signed copies of their books, which will be available to buy at the sale. You'll also find a wealth of orange-and-cream Penguin paperbacks and well-loved collections of fairy tales, as well as specialist titles for train-spotters, cross-stitching enthusiasts and the like.
And there'll be a chance to hear FSW patron and celebrated Sussex children's author and poet Giles Paley-Phillips reading his delightful new book The Fearsome Beastie.
There'll be something for adult book-lovers too, as during the three day event local fiction author Lizzie Enfield will introduce and present extracts from her latest page-turner What You Don't Know.
Family Support Work (FSW) relies hugely on events like the Big Book Sale to help raise much needed funding. Every penny from every book bought at the sale will be used to help Sussex families facing difficult times to begin a new chapter in their lives by providing them with a short break together. FSW offers weekend or week-long stays to families with children at its friendly, well-equipped Knowles Tooth Children's Centre in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex. Last year the centre hosted breaks for 77 families with 103 children, at an average cost of £150 for a week-long stay.
